Exhibiting spaces and temporary stores are becoming increasingly relevant within retail and the trade show industry, and can be considered one of the latest trends in communications, starting from the project, messages, values, quality, but also emotions, entertainment and atmosphere.

Infact today every purchasing experience must be involving, multisensory and gratifying also aesthetically, and the temporality which captures the operators and public’s attention on these spaces, is expression of its actuality and contact with the latest needs of the market.


A specialization for architects and designers
This evolution leads to a new way to design temporary trade show booths and retail spaces, and architects are required to possess new specialised skills and be able to understand the new aesthetic and functional codes of this growing marketplace.


The new course by POLI.design
Consortium of Politecnico di Milano
POLI.design-Consortium of Politecnico di Milano has established the first and only course of High Standard Training in "Temporary Space & Exhibition Design", the new specialization for architects and designers desiring to specialize in the planning of temporary stores and innovative exhibition spaces, in touch with the evolution of the market and under the sign of design and the new aesthetic codes.

Specialised teachers and vanguard professionals
The teachers of the course are Politecnico di Milano lectures and professors who will be in charge of developing topics concerning design in relation to planning and furniture, and specialised professionals who will develop entrepreneurial, technological and sociological topics, for a wider professional and multidisciplinary approach to the sector.


Professional opportunities
Participants will acquire planning skills and will receive a certificate of attendance by POLI.design-Consortium of Politecnico di Milano.
They will be able to work with design firms specialised in space planning for trade show and retail spaces, furniture and fittings producers and buyers of retail and exhibit spaces.


Structure of the course
The course develops through theoretic-practical modules for a total of 160 hours of frontal lessons, practical exercises and a final project work that will assess the acquired creative and designing skills.


In contact with the industry,
the market and professional operators
The cooperation with specialised companies that are members of the Consortium TEXS will offer participants a constant contact with the operators of the sector.
The research and application results developed in the final project work will be presented to the media.

Educational tours
During the course lecturers will lead participants on visits to trade shows, workshops of companies specialised in booth-set-up, and a selection of innovative public venues, in order to study in depth their features, functions and planning solutions.
Other educational itineraries will be recommended to students to do on their own.


Candidates
The course is reserved to Italian and foreign graduates in architecture, design or engineering and professionals of the sector, interested in specialising in design and planning of trade show booths and retail temporary spaces.


Duration and Venue
The course is scheduled from January 12th to February 6th, 2009, with an attendance of 20 days, 8 hours a day.
Lessons will take place at:

Admission
The admission to the course, for a maximum of 30 students, will be subject to a selection process.
Before the interview candidates must send a CV describing in brief their studies and the possible professional experience.
Students are kindly recommended to use their own computer in the final project work.


Fees and Study Grants
Euro 4,000 + VAT (E 3,000 + E 1,000 of admission fee).
The Academic Partner TEXS and the sponsoring companies offer many study grants for deserving candidates.

The Course in "Temporary Space & Exhibition Design" expands and completes POLI.design’s educational offer, which is aimed at a permanent updating of professional competences and a continuous scientific confrontation with the main innovation, product and system issues.


A course of high specialization
The course of postgraduate specialization in "Temporary Space & Exhibition Design" is at its first edition and is reserved to 30 Italian and foreign participants.
It will have a critical and formative character and will focus on all aspects concerning space planning: design, planning and implementation, furniture, new materials, use of colours, role of light and sound technologies, evolution of the market and new trends.
